Our Instructors
Emmy Lupin
Emmy Smith is the illustrator behind Emmy Lupin Studio, based in Nottingham. Taking an unconventional route into illustration, she originally studied advertising and spent five years working in design agencies before pivoting her career to pursue her creative passion. Now, she runs Emmy Lupin Studio full-time, bringing her vibrant, hand-drawn world to life.
Her work is bold, expressive, and unapologetically playful—capturing life through a female lens. With a rich use of pattern, bright colors, and a storytelling approach, she creates illustrations that are fun, relatable, and empowering.
Emmy joins for a masterclass 'Sketch to Shop: Launching Your Illustration Brand' on Thursday 8th May @ 2.30pm BST.
Mélanie Johnsson
Mélanie (Mel) Johnsson is a French illustrator and graphic designer based in Margate, UK. Since 2014, she’s worked with a range of brands—from homeware and fashion to editorial—while championing sustainable, joy-driven projects that align with her values.
Outside of work, Mel is a mum to two young daughters (born in 2021 and 2024) and fills her time with painting, baking, reading, and early sunrise runs. She’s a long-time vegetarian with a love for matcha, cheese, sea animals, and adrenaline-fuelled adventures like skydiving and kitesurfing.
Mélanie presents her masterclass 'Inspired Stationery: Creating Joyful, Purpose-Driven Paper Goods' on Thursday 5th June @ 7.30pm BST.
Marie Chanteur
Located in Aspudden, Stockholm, Wobbly Studio is an art brand and a workshop created and run by Marie Chanteur. Her bold and colorful work is all about embracing the mundane, poking fun at our imperfections and not taking ourselves too seriously. Wobbly Studio creates happy objects to lighten up and add fun to our homes.
After 8 years as a print designer in the fashion industry, Marie embarked on a new journey as a self-taught ceramicist. Through ceramics, she continues to channel her passion for prints, using clay pieces as a fresh canvas for her illustrations and patterns.
Marie joins us for a masterclass on 'Playful Process: Exploring Creativity & Ceramics' on Wednesday 28th May @ 6pm BST.
Laura Barnes
Laura Barnes is a textile designer and illustrator based in South East London, known for her bold use of color and pattern to create uplifting, joy-filled designs.
Inspired by nature, travel, and life’s simple pleasures - dog walks, farmers’ markets, alfresco dinners, and the scent of tomatoes on the vine - her work radiates warmth and optimism. Her bold and expressive color palette is influenced by travels to India, Morocco, and Mexico, resulting in dopamine-rich designs that feel both nostalgic and contemporary. Her work has been featured in The Guardian, Country Living, Gardens Illustrated and BBC Good Food.
