Tobias Hall presented a short talk about his creative practice, including an overview of work for Cadbury's and his stunning mosiac tiles for the HF London office, before taking a deeper dive into client work for Sipsmith London and an incredible collaboration with Blink Ink for Greene King Brewery for their Centuries in the Making campaign.
Tobias rounded off his talk answering questions on his lettering influences and tips for creating short videos to document his creative process.
Illustrator Matt Saunders rounded off the presentations with a refreshingly honest account of how he started out, juggling a part time job a DFS after graduation before taking the leap into illustration - and how a chance meeting with Jon at one of our early exhibitions in London led to an invitation to join the agency as one of their first repped artists!
Fast forward 15 years and Matt has honed his style working with clients including LucasFilm, Disney and Pottermore amongst others. Matt shared his tips on finding work and the value of in-person connections, emphasising the importance of creating work inspired by your personal passions and experiences. For Matt, who travelled around Japan before creating a collection of illustrations inspired by his trip, a meeting with YouTuber Chris Broad lead to illustrating his debut book Abroad In Japan which quickly become a Sunday Times bestseller!

Jon Cockley set up illustration agency Handsome Frank with his cousin Tom Robinson in 2010. The agency has grown an incredible amount over the last few years and the pair now proudly represent 40 illustrators across five continents including Malika Favre, Jean Jullien and Luis Mendo. Before Handsome Frank, Jon worked in publishing for ten years for platforms including Creative Review and Design Week.
Handsome Frank predominantely work with clients across advertising, design, and publishing, ranging from global brands to bold start-ups, and everything in between. Clients include Adobe, Google, Wired, Warby Parker, LA Times, Washington Post and many others.

Matt Saunders is an experienced freelance illustrator based in London, whose work is often rooted in creating fantastical calming atmospheres. Matt creates visually unique images and solves visual problems. He's worked extensively in the publishing, design and advertising worlds, creating everything from book covers to billboards for clients ranging from tech companies to Broadway, including Pottermore, Apple, Washington Post, Simon & Schuster and others.

About Tobias Hall
Tobias Hall is a unique lettering artist based in working from London, UK. His creative practice is rooted in traditional lettering and a woodcut style of illustration, brought up to date by employing modern subjects and vibrant colour palettes. His knowledge of type is often twinned with those illustrative elements to create ad campaigns, magazine and book covers, and 21st-century brandmarks with all the craft and poise of something more traditional. Notable clients include Netflix, the Rolling Stones, Wagamama, KFC, Cadillac and TIME magazine.
